The county fair, timeless tradition. Every March Sarasota holds its annual county fair featuring rides, entertainment, 4-H livestock shows and FOOD. Fair food is one of a kind and since it only comes once a year, indulge yourself. For the 4-H Foundation, this means elephant ears and funnel cakes. Elephant ears are freshly prepared dough, hand stretched and fried to a crisp. Funnel cakes are more of a donut batter poured into overlapping ribbons and fried golden on the outside and soft on the inside. You have your choice of cinnamon-sugar or powdered sugar topping on both. All this sugary goodness is handmade by the foundation members, 4-H clubs and volunteers. We can also wrap it up to go, so take one home to share.
Be sure to stop by and see us anytime during the fair. We are located right behind the fair office and Potter building in our traditional spot. Have some spare time? Consider volunteering for a shift in the booth. Students get community service hours and volunteers of all ages (over 12) are welcome.
